TULSA, OK - Infinite Composites, Inc. has secured its latest Commercial Lunar Payload Service (CLPS) subcontract, valued at $2.9M, for the main propellant tanks of a lunar lander, bringing the company’s total CLPS-related contracts to more than $5.5M. The newest contract is for the development of the two main cryogenic propellant tanks, whereas the previous contracts have been for pressurant tanks and reaction control systems (RCS) tanks.
“We’ve seen a significant increase in interest in space opportunities, especially lunar-related, since achieving flight heritage last year across multiple domains,” said Michael Tate, Founder and COO of Infinite Composites. Last year, Infinite announced successful flight heritage in GEO satellite orbit, hypersonic flight, and hydrogen-powered unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). “Many of these previous programs are maturing to higher demands and generating significant new interest from other defense and aviation applications.”
The company also says it’s already been integrated into one of the largest lunar landers ever built, which has recently completed a series of qualification tests, and is expected to fly to the Moon in early 2027. Infinite Composites has been working with three commercial companies over the past four years to help get the next generation of spacecraft to the lunar surface, and previously completed several contracts directly with NASA to provide tanks for evaluation and with the Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology (OCAST), where they collaborated with Oklahoma State University-Tulsa to develop technology that would ultimately help secure these contracts.
Earlier in May of this year, Infinite Composites announced equipment expansions, utilizing support from both its investors, as well as funding from the Oklahoma Department of Commerce’s Oklahoma Innovation Expansion Program (OIEP). “Our recent announcement related to the acquisition of additional equipment, which expanded our manufacturing capabilities in terms of larger diameter classes as well as manufacturing capacity, has been unlocking a lot of new opportunities for us, including this recent contract,” said Matt Villarreal, Founder and CEO. “We’re excited to see what additional applications these new capabilities will continue to unlock.”
