Where are you originally from?
I was born in OKC, but before I turned 1 -- my family moved to California. At the age of 9, I moved to Twin Cities, Minnesota. I moved to Tulsa for college in 2007 to study Aviation Maintenance and been here since.
I graduated Tulsa Tech with my A&P license and completed my AS in Physics & Chemistry at TCC. I am currently an undergraduate research student at NSU - Broken Arrow, majoring in Chemistry. I plan on completing my B.S. in Chemistry & receive a PhD in either Material Science or Nanotechnology.
What does a typical day at ICT look like for you?
As Operations Manager, my responsibility is to make sure all operations within the facility are running smoothly. Most of the time, small details may stop production. It is my job to ensure production keeps moving forward.
A typical day starts with manufacturing composites pressure vessels. I'm usually in the office an hour early to get all required paperwork in order. We spend most of our time fabricating tooling. Many of our manufacturing processes take days to complete. By the end of the week, we perform destructive & non-destructive testing. Currently, we are performing thermal cycle testing on our new prototype for NASA.
Depending on the day, I may spend a few hours at Northeastern State University's Chemistry Lab performing research on Silica nanoparticles.
Outside of ICT, how do you like spending your free time?
Outside of work, during the week, most of my time is spent performing research or conducting leadership training courses at NSU through the National Society of Leadership & Success (NSLS-NSUBA).
On the weekend, when I'm not spending time with my kids -- I perform independent research with my startup company, 3D Dynamics LLC. This includes 3D printing exotic materials such as ammonium perchlorate composite propellant or APCP rocket fuel. APCP is the same fuel used on NASA's space shuttles.
I also love to fish and play/watch football (NFL). I'm always learning new things and pushing the limits of technology.
The research sound fascinating! What is your favorite thing about working at ICT?
The best thing about ICT is this company pushes you to be innovative and try new things. Most companies have plenty of red tape that can stop creativity. We are always challenging ourselves. This type environment isn't for everyone, but if you can make it here -- you will be pushed to your full potential.
